RIYADH: Saudi Arabia and Qatar reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral and regional ties during the executive committee meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council in Riyadh on Thursday. The session was co-chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the meeting reviewed ongoing cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, exploring initiatives aimed at enhancing strategic, economic, and cultural collaboration. Both sides commended the work of the council’s various committees, which have actively contributed to strengthening institutional ties between the two Gulf nations.

The executive committee secretariat presented a detailed overview of the council’s activities, including updates from its specialized committees and preparations for the eighth meeting of the council. Discussions focused on identifying new avenues to elevate Saudi-Qatari relations while consolidating cooperation across political, economic, and social sectors.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both ministers signed the minutes of the executive committee, signaling mutual commitment to continue fostering strong ties and collaborative initiatives in the Gulf region. Analysts say such high-level coordination reflects the growing strategic alignment between Riyadh and Doha, enhancing stability and partnership within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

This meeting comes amid broader efforts by Gulf nations to bolster regional economic integration and diplomatic collaboration, as well as to strengthen collective responses to geopolitical challenges in the Middle East.
