Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi emphasized that political resistance must ultimately give way to reconciliation, and meaningful dialogue is essential to steer Pakistan towards progress.

Speaking to Media after a court appearance, Qureshi said the country needs conversation, not confrontation, in the current political climate.

He added that PTI Chairman Imran Khan has delegated the authority for negotiations to Mahmood Khan Achakzai, leader of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, who is best positioned to decide the direction of talks. In politics, dialogue is the only way to resolve national issues, he said.

Addressing questions about his recent meeting with fellow PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, Qureshi clarified that while political differences exist, personal relationships and human values remain paramount. When I was in the hospital, Fawad Chaudhry came to visit. Now, if a guest comes to the house, it shouldn’t be questioned why they came, he said.

On foreign policy, Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing support for Afghanistan and called for Afghan territory not to be used against Pakistan. Pakistan seeks peace in the region, and Afghanistan should stand with us against terrorism, he stated.

Regarding regional security, Qureshi said the situation along the Iran border is currently under control. Speaking on India, he said, Pakistan defeated India in war and was honored by Allah, yet the threat from India is not fully gone. We must remain vigilant at all times.
