Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman held high-level talks with Malaysia’s King Sultan Ibrahim at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, following an official welcoming ceremony, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.
The meeting, described by both sides as warm and productive, underscored the deepening partnership between Riyadh and Kuala Lumpur and their shared commitment to advancing cooperation in a broad range of areas including trade, defense, investment, and technology.
According to a statement from Istana Negara, the Malaysian royal palace, the visit reflects the Kingdom’s and Malaysia’s mutual determination to strengthen bilateral ties and expand collaboration across multiple sectors. The leaders discussed ways to enhance economic integration, promote defense cooperation, and explore new avenues for joint development projects under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and Malaysia’s Madani Economic Framework.
The talks also touched on the importance of strategic coordination within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other international forums to promote regional peace, stability, and the collective advancement of the Muslim world.
Observers say the meeting marks a new phase in Saudi–Malaysian relations, signaling Riyadh’s growing engagement with Southeast Asia and Kuala Lumpur’s intent to deepen its role in Gulf–ASEAN cooperation. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to building a modern partnership rooted in shared values, economic ambition, and mutual respect.
