In a major step toward strengthening its maritime defense, the Pakistan Navy has formally inducted the advanced warship PNS Khaibar into its fleet. This development is being regarded as a significant milestone, reflecting Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing its naval strength and preparing for future security challenges in the maritime domain.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep satisfaction and pride over the addition of this modern vessel. He described it as a decisive step toward reinforcing the country’s defense capabilities. Emphasizing the importance of maritime security, he stated that a strong, balanced, and technologically advanced navy is essential for protecting Pakistan’s vast sea-based interests, trade routes, and energy supply lines. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equipping the navy with all necessary resources so it can effectively fulfill its national responsibilities.
Meanwhile, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf highlighted Pakistan’s strategic geographic position, noting that the country lies along critical global trade and energy corridors. He stressed that this unique location increases the importance of safeguarding maritime routes, which play a vital role in sustaining the national economy. According to him, ongoing modernization efforts are aimed at ensuring that the navy remains fully prepared to counter any emerging threats.
Admiral Ashraf further explained that the navy is being equipped with cutting-edge systems, advanced weaponry, and specialized capabilities. These enhancements, he said, are designed to enable precise targeting of key enemy assets and critical infrastructure when required. He underlined that in modern warfare, technological superiority is a decisive factor, and Pakistan is actively working to ensure its naval forces remain ahead in this domain.
Recalling a past operation, Marka-e-Haq, he stated that during that time, the Pakistan Navy was fully prepared and strategically positioned to engage major adversary naval assets, including an Indian aircraft carrier. He noted that due to Pakistan Navy’s preparedness and strategic approach, the opposing force was compelled to retreat and remain confined to what it considered safe zones—demonstrating Pakistan’s naval strength and deterrence capability.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the naval chief extended his best wishes to the crew of PNS Khaibar and reaffirmed the navy’s unwavering resolve to defend the country’s maritime frontiers. He emphasized that the navy stands ready at all times to safeguard national sovereignty and protect vital sea lanes.
