The Pakistan Navy has successfully conducted a live firing test of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship missile, marking a significant milestone in the country’s maritime defense capabilities. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the trial demonstrated high-precision strike capability, advanced operational readiness, and the Navy’s growing technological sophistication.
During the exercise, the missile accurately engaged its designated target at an extended range while maintaining high speed and stability throughout its trajectory. The successful engagement was described as a clear reflection of Pakistan Navy’s preparedness and its ability to respond effectively to evolving maritime threats in the region.
Senior leadership, including Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, along with leading scientists and engineers involved in the project, observed the live firing. Their presence highlighted the joint effort between Pakistan’s defense leadership and its indigenous scientific and engineering teams in advancing modern weapons systems.
ISPR stated that the missile is equipped with a state-of-the-art guidance and control system, enabling it to manoeuvre efficiently, evade defensive countermeasures, and strike targets with high accuracy. These advanced features enhance its effectiveness in complex operational environments and strengthen Pakistan’s maritime deterrence posture.
The military’s media wing further emphasized that the successful test underscores the integration of technological innovation with operational expertise. It added that the development reflects Pakistan Navy’s commitment to maintaining a credible sea-based deterrent and ensuring robust maritime security in an increasingly complex regional environment.
Following the test, top civil and military leadership extended congratulations to the participating teams. Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and all Services Chiefs, praised the scientists, engineers, and naval personnel involved in achieving this milestone.
This latest achievement comes amid a series of successful weapons trials conducted by Pakistan’s armed forces in recent months, highlighting a continued focus on strengthening indigenous defence capabilities. Earlier this year, the Pakistan Navy had successfully conducted a surface-to-air missile test during a naval exercise in the North Arabian Sea, demonstrating both conventional and unmanned warfare capabilities in line with modern naval requirements.
Similarly, the Pakistan Air Force had also carried out successful testing of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, capable of striking both land and maritime targets at ranges of up to 600 kilometers with high precision. These developments collectively reflect a broader trend toward enhancing self-reliance in defence technology.
The latest naval missile test is therefore seen as part of a sustained effort to modernize Pakistan’s military capabilities, improve strategic deterrence, and ensure readiness in response to evolving regional security challenges.
