Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that the country will host its first-ever International Quran Competition (IQC‑2025) in Islamabad from November 24 to 29, 2025. This historic event will bring together over 34 distinguished Quran reciters from member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), who will represent their nations while showcasing the highest standards of Quranic recitation. The initiative not only highlights Pakistan’s growing role in religious and cultural diplomacy but also aims to strengthen spiritual and cultural bonds among Muslim nations.

The competition is being hailed as a landmark occasion in Pakistan’s religious and cultural landscape. Its primary objectives include promoting cross-cultural and interfaith harmony within the global Muslim community while encouraging the art and discipline of Quranic recitation. Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate both technical precision and spiritual expression in their recitations, offering a platform for learning, cultural exchange, and appreciation of Quranic arts. By blending competition with education, the event seeks to inspire a new generation of reciters to uphold and advance the rich tradition of Quranic recitation at an international standard.

According to the official schedule, Group One and Group Two recitation rounds will be held from November 24 to 27 at the auditorium of the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in Islamabad. These sessions will provide a structured environment for participants to perform in different categories and be evaluated on a range of criteria, including Tajweed (pronunciation rules), tone, style, and mastery of rhythm and melody. The grand closing ceremony will take place on November 29 at the Jinnah Convention Centre, where winners will be honored with prestigious awards and accolades, recognizing their excellence and dedication. High-ranking government officials and distinguished religious scholars are expected to preside over both the opening and closing ceremonies, further emphasizing the international significance of the event.

Beyond celebrating Quranic recitation, IQC‑2025 is part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to enhance its religious diplomacy and cultural outreach globally. By hosting this international event, Pakistan aims to highlight its spiritual heritage and cultural traditions on a world stage, fostering a positive image and strengthening ties with other Muslim nations. Each participant’s recitation will be evaluated based on international standards, ensuring that the competition maintains its credibility and prestige within the global Quranic community.

The event also serves as a unique platform for fostering cross-cultural understanding and Islamic solidarity. Participants will not only represent their countries but will also engage in meaningful cultural exchange, share insights about their respective traditions, and contribute to a spirit of brotherhood among Muslims. For young reciters, IQC‑2025 represents an unparalleled opportunity to gain international exposure, refine their skills, and inspire others through the universal language of the Quran.

This initiative is part of a larger governmental vision to promote education, culture, spirituality, and religious harmony across Muslim nations. By organizing IQC‑2025, Pakistan has sent a clear message that it is committed to advancing Quranic education and recitation while fostering global cultural and spiritual connections. The event underscores Pakistan’s dedication to presenting itself as a hub for international religious dialogue and as a nation that values the preservation and propagation of Islamic traditions.

Ultimately, IQC‑2025 is more than a competition; it is a celebration of faith, culture, and unity. It reflects Pakistan’s ambition to strengthen its global standing in religious and cultural spheres while providing a prestigious platform for talented Quran reciters to shine. The event is expected to leave a lasting impact on participants and audiences alike, reinforcing Pakistan’s role as a promoter of Islamic values, international collaboration, and spiritual excellence.
