Bagh: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday celebrated Pakistan’s military success during the four-day clash with India in May, citing a recent report submitted to the United States Congress that, he said, validated Pakistan’s strategic superiority.
Addressing the foundation-laying ceremony of a new Daanish School in Bagh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the premier highlighted the role of advanced Chinese weaponry in Pakistan’s triumph. The exemplary performance of the Pakistan Armed Forces brought the enemy to its knees, by the grace of God, he stated, commending the leadership of Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The report, submitted by the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, reportedly confirmed Pakistan’s successful defense against India’s aggressive air strikes, which followed an unverified claim linking Pakistan to a tourist attack in occupied Kashmir. The conflict, which began on May 7 with India’s air strikes on Punjab and Azad Kashmir, escalated into tit-for-tat attacks on airbases before a ceasefire was brokered on May 10 through U.S. intervention.
PM Shehbaz also noted that former U.S. President Donald Trump had acknowledged multiple times that Pakistan had downed seven Indian aircraft during the confrontation.
On the education front, the prime minister expressed his commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in AJK. He emphasized that Daanish Schools offer standards comparable to premier institutions such as Aitchison College and Lawrence College, providing modern technology, qualified local faculty, free uniforms, food, and residential facilities.
The Bagh School is scheduled to be inaugurated on March 23, 2026, while the foundation stone for another Daanish School in Neelum Valley will be laid soon. PM Shehbaz expressed hope that one day, India-occupied Kashmir would also benefit from such educational institutions.
He further underscored the government’s focus on economic development, stating that Pakistan was progressing in the “right direction” toward sustainable growth.
