RIYADH: The inaugural day of the Innovation Driven Water Sustainability Conference 2025 in Jeddah, running from December 8 to 10, marked a significant milestone in advancing water sector technologies and sustainability initiatives. Nine major agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed, highlighting strong collaboration between governmental, private, and academic entities.
The Saudi Water Authority spearheaded six key cooperation agreements aimed at promoting innovation, developing new technologies, and enhancing service efficiency. Notable technical agreements were signed with the General Irrigation Corp., the Singapore Water Association, the National Polyethylene Co., and Arabian Qudra Co. Additionally, an MoU was inked with the Sekaya Charitable Foundation, while a joint training agreement was concluded with Waad Al Shamal Co. and Riah Al Ghat Energy Co.
Beyond these, three more agreements were formalized during the opening day. These included a partnership between Tilden Co. and Alliance Water Co., a collaborative MoU between the Sekaya Charitable Foundation and GI Aqua Tech, and a tripartite cooperation pact involving the King Abdulaziz Endowment for the Ain Al Aziziyah Water Project, the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority, and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.
The conference serves as a crucial platform for presenting innovative solutions, facilitating knowledge exchange, and forging strategic partnerships across the water sector. Organizers said additional agreements and initiatives aimed at boosting sector efficiency, sustainability, and technological advancement are expected to be announced during the remaining two days of the event.
With water scarcity becoming a pressing challenge globally, Saudi Arabia is positioning itself as a hub for research, innovation, and sustainable practices in the water sector, aligning with broader environmental and economic goals.
