The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has formally expressed its strong support for the announcement marking the beginning of the second phase of a comprehensive peace initiative, describing it as an important step toward restoring stability and paving the way for a sustainable political resolution to the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Alongside this development, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the decision to establish a “Palestinian National Committee” tasked with overseeing the governance and administration of the Gaza Strip during a transitional period.
According to the Saudi statement, the newly formed committee has been constituted as a temporary and interim body under United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2803. The Kingdom emphasized that such mechanisms are essential in times of conflict to ensure continuity in governance, maintain public order, and address the urgent humanitarian and administrative needs of civilians affected by war. Saudi Arabia reaffirmed that it stands firmly behind all initiatives that promote regional stability, reduce tensions, and help create an environment conducive to achieving a comprehensive and just political settlement.
In its statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs also acknowledged and praised the efforts of US President Donald Trump aimed at bringing the war in Gaza to an end. The Kingdom highlighted the importance of his stated commitment to facilitating the withdrawal of Israeli military forces from the Gaza Strip and his opposition to any attempts to annex parts of the occupied West Bank into Israel. Saudi Arabia noted that preventing unilateral actions that undermine international law is critical to preserving the prospects for peace and avoiding further escalation in the region.
The Kingdom further commended diplomatic initiatives focused on advancing a durable and long-term peace, stressing that meaningful progress can only be achieved through dialogue, restraint, and adherence to international legitimacy. In this context, Saudi Arabia expressed its appreciation for the mediation efforts undertaken by Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye, recognizing their role in keeping diplomatic channels open and working toward a negotiated outcome through peaceful means rather than military confrontation.
Saudi Arabia underscored the importance of empowering and supporting the Palestinian interim National Committee so that it can effectively carry out its responsibilities in managing the daily affairs of Gaza’s population. The Ministry stressed that the committee must be enabled to address essential services, administrative coordination, and humanitarian needs, particularly given the severe challenges faced by residents of the Gaza Strip after prolonged conflict.
A key element of Saudi Arabia’s position is the preservation of both the institutional and geographical unity between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The Kingdom categorically rejected any efforts aimed at separating, fragmenting, or permanently isolating Gaza from the rest of the Palestinian territories. Saudi officials warned that such attempts would undermine Palestinian unity, weaken governance structures, and further complicate efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution.
The Ministry also highlighted the urgent need to stabilize the ceasefire and prevent all forms of violations that could reignite hostilities. It called for ensuring unrestricted and continuous access for humanitarian aid into Gaza, emphasizing that food, medical supplies, fuel, and other essential assistance must reach civilians without delay or obstruction. Saudi Arabia stressed that alleviating human suffering remains a moral and legal obligation for the international community.
In addition, the Kingdom urged the acceleration of early recovery and reconstruction efforts across different parts of the Gaza Strip. This includes restoring basic infrastructure, rehabilitating damaged facilities, and supporting initiatives that help displaced families return to normal life. Saudi Arabia emphasized that reconstruction is not merely a technical process but a critical foundation for long-term stability and peace.
Saudi Arabia also placed strong emphasis on the importance of facilitating the return of the Palestinian National Authority to fully assume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip. The Kingdom stated that restoring the authority’s role is a necessary step toward achieving unified governance across all Palestinian territories, including both Gaza and the West Bank.
According to the Saudi position, enabling the Palestinian Authority to function effectively is essential for ending Israeli occupation and restoring Palestinian rights in line with international law. The Kingdom reiterated that any sustainable political outcome must be grounded in United Nations resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the widely endorsed two-state solution.
Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, living side by side with Israel in peace and security. The Ministry concluded by stressing that only a just, comprehensive, and lasting settlement—one that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people—can bring enduring stability to the region and prevent future cycles of violence.
