Kyiv:Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Saturday that Ukraine has received a U.S.-made Patriot air defense system from Israel, with two additional units expected to arrive in the coming months.
The delivery comes as Kyiv races to strengthen its air defense network against Russia’s relentless drone and missile barrages, which have intensified in recent weeks. With winter approaching, Ukraine is particularly concerned about strikes targeting its energy and heating infrastructure, recalling last year’s crippling blackouts during freezing temperatures.
Zelenskyy emphasized the urgency of accelerating military assistance to Ukraine, noting that effective air defense remains the country’s top priority in its effort to safeguard civilians, cities, and critical utilities.
