Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Leadership and Governance by Her Majesty Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, Queen of the Malaysian state of Pahang, in recognition of his visionary leadership, nation-building efforts, and dedication to public welfare.

The honor was conferred by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) during a special ceremony presided over by the Queen. In his acceptance remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the award was not a personal achievement but a tribute to the people of Pakistan, symbolizing their resilience and commitment to progress.

He highlighted the deep academic and cultural ties between Pakistan and Malaysia, expressing confidence that this recognition would further strengthen bilateral cooperation in education, research, and innovation.

Queen Tunku Azizah, in her address, praised Prime Minister Sharif’s discipline, compassion, and reform-oriented vision, particularly acknowledging his initiatives in education, healthcare, and social welfare. She cited the Punjab Education Endowment Fund as a shining example of his commitment to empowering youth through access to quality education.

The honorary degree reflects the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Malaysia, rooted not only in diplomatic relations but also in shared intellectual, cultural, and moral values. Educational institutions and research communities from both nations continue to serve as vital bridges of collaboration and understanding.

The ceremony took place at the IIUM Gombak Campus in Kuala Lumpur, attended by scholars, academicians, and senior officials from both countries. Concluding his remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that true leadership means service, integrity, and compassion, adding that this recognition would inspire further cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia in empowering youth and strengthening education.
