On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a 42-foot-tall Christmas tree has been installed at Liberty Chowk, one of the city’s central locations. The tree lights up at night, illuminating the surroundings and adding a festive spirit to the city’s atmosphere.
Installed by the Parks and Horticulture Authority, the Christmas tree is accompanied by illuminated structures of Santa Claus, snowmen, and stars, turning Liberty Chowk into an attractive and joyful sight. The initiative aims to express solidarity with the Christian community and convey a clear message that all minorities in Punjab are safe, respected, and an integral part of society.
In a message shared on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that the 42-foot Christmas tree installed at Liberty Chowk is a strong symbol of love, pluralism, and inclusion. She added that the initiative reflects the reality that minorities in Punjab are not only protected but are also valued and respected as an important part of the province’s social fabric.
According to PHA officials, special decorative lighting has also been arranged at various churches across the city to further enhance the festive celebrations of the Christian community. They stated that the initiative is not only meant to create a celebratory environment but also to promote interfaith harmony and mutual respect.
Meanwhile, in the federal capital Islamabad, a Christmas tree has also been installed in front of the Parliament House. Decorated with colorful lights and jingle bells, the display is accompanied by a large portrait of the Founder of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. This scene serves as a reminder of Quaid-e-Azam’s vision of a country where all citizens enjoy equal rights and respect, regardless of religion.
