Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is set to visit Beijing to co-chair the seventh round of the Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, scheduled for January 4, 2026, and according to a statement released by the Foreign Office (FO) on Wednesday.
Dar’s visit comes at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, underlining the importance both countries attach to regular high-level consultations. The Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue represents the highest consultative platform between the two nations, providing an organized framework to review the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation, as well as discuss regional and global developments of mutual interest.
During the upcoming dialogue, the two foreign ministers are expected to announce a series of initiatives and commemorative activities to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. These initiatives are aimed at highlighting the enduring nature of the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and reaffirming both countries’ shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and sustainable development.
While the FO did not specify the exact duration of Dar’s visit, the Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed that he would be in Beijing from January 3 to January 6, 2026. The seventh round of dialogue follows the sixth round, which was held in Islamabad in August, when Wang Yi visited the capital and held meetings with Dar, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and President Asif Ali Zardari. At the time, China reiterated its commitment to working with Pakistan in advancing regional development, peace, and stability.
Officials describe this visit as an important step in deepening bilateral ties, strengthening mutual trust, and advancing collaborative projects in key sectors, ranging from trade and infrastructure to energy and technology. Analysts say that the dialogue will play a crucial role in shaping future regional cooperation, particularly amid evolving global geopolitical dynamics.
