During a high-level visit to Pakistan’s western frontier, Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, emphasized that sustainable peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan is only possible if the Afghan Taliban halt all support for terrorism and terrorist organizations operating across the border. He stressed that mutual trust and regional stability depend on decisive action to prevent the use of Afghan territory for operations against Pakistan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir visited the Wana area of South Waziristan, where he paid tribute to martyrs at a memorial, laying flowers in honor of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the motherland. He highlighted that the ultimate foundation of Pakistan’s security, sovereignty, and resilience lies in the sacrifices of these brave men and women.
During the visit, the Field Marshal received a detailed briefing on the security situation along the western border, including the ongoing “Ghazi al-Haq” operation. He reviewed the progress, strategic objectives, and operational readiness of troops deployed in the region. The Field Marshal examined threats, troop deployments, and preparedness measures, instructing officers to remain vigilant and fully capable of addressing any emerging risks.
He personally visited forward positions and met with soldiers, commending their professional skills, operational discipline, and high morale despite ongoing clashes. He emphasized that the nation places full confidence in its armed forces, asserting that defending the borders is both a national duty and a matter of pride, and that no lapse in this responsibility will be tolerated.
Field Marshal Munir made clear that using Afghan territory to carry out terrorist acts against Pakistan is entirely unacceptable. Referring to extremist groups such as “Fitna-e-Khawarij” and “Fitna-e-Hindustan,” he stated that these actors seek to destabilize Pakistan with external support and facilitation. He pledged that any threats emerging from such activities would be neutralized through necessary measures.
He further stated that Pakistan desires peace and prioritizes regional stability, but this should not be mistaken for weakness. Any cross-border incursions or terrorist actions will be met with a decisive and effective response. According to him, sustainable peace and stability along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border are only possible if the Taliban demonstrate through concrete measures that they have ceased supporting terrorist networks.
The ISPR statement added that the Field Marshal expressed complete confidence in the combat readiness, operational coordination, and morale of formations stationed along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. He instructed officers and soldiers to strengthen border monitoring and ensure immediate action against any suspicious activities, emphasizing that national security requires constant coordination and readiness at all levels.
At the conclusion of his visit, Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and citizens. He affirmed that the armed forces are fully capable of countering any challenge and, with the support of the nation, will thwart the designs of adversaries. He stressed that robust border defense and internal stability are essential to guaranteeing long-term peace in the region.
