White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has stated in a press briefing that Pakistan’s efforts in facilitating a ceasefire-related diplomatic process between Iran and the United States are being appreciated, adding that Islamabad is emerging as a key mediator in the ongoing negotiations.

She noted that discussions with Iran remain active and are currently continuing in a constructive and productive manner. According to her, Pakistan has played a central role as the sole mediator between the two sides, helping maintain engagement and dialogue at a critical stage of tensions.

Leavitt further suggested that the next round of talks could potentially be held in Islamabad, highlighting Pakistan’s growing diplomatic significance in the process. However, she also clarified that reports claiming the United States had requested an extension of the ceasefire were inaccurate.

Meanwhile, sources indicate that preparations are underway for a possible second round of Iran–US negotiations, which may take place in Islamabad at the end of next week. Administrative and security arrangements are reportedly being coordinated, with relevant authorities instructed to ensure readiness for the high-profile diplomatic engagement.

According to the information, the US delegation is expected to include Vice President J.D. Vance, along with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. On the Iranian side, Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are likely to represent Tehran.

However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has stated that no final date has yet been agreed upon for the next round of talks, keeping the schedule uncertain for now.

Previously, the first round of Pakistan-hosted US–Iran talks was held on April 11 in Islamabad, lasting around 21 hours but concluding without any formal agreement. Despite the lack of a deal, US Vice President J.D. Vance later remarked in an interview that the discussions showed positive progress, stating that Washington had presented its proposals and that the next step now rests with Iran.
