Ukraine is moving toward a new phase of defense collaboration with key Gulf nations, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed plans for joint production of low-cost drones in partnership with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The initiative reflects a broader strategy to expand technological cooperation and strengthen Ukraine’s role in the global defense landscape.
According to Zelenskyy, the scope of these agreements extends beyond manufacturing hardware. The partnerships will also include the development and supply of advanced software systems, as well as specialized training programs aimed at improving operational efficiency and effective deployment. This development builds on a recently signed memorandum of understanding between Ukraine and Saudi Arabia focused on defense procurement and cooperation. The agreement followed Zelenskyy’s official visit to Saudi Arabia, where he held high-level discussions with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
