Silicon Valley / Islamabad: In a landmark development for Pakistan’s tech ecosystem, data-resilience firm Veeam has acquired Securiti AI, a company founded by Pakistani entrepreneur Rehan Jalil, in a deal valued at approximately $1.7 billion. The acquisition marks one of the largest exits ever achieved by a Pakistani founder in the global technology landscape.
Securiti AI, known for its Data Command Center, provides enterprises with tools to discover, protect, and govern data across cloud environments and SaaS applications. Its platform enables organizations to manage data privacy, compliance, and security particularly for AI-driven systems, where safeguarding sensitive information is becoming a critical priority.
Veeam said the acquisition will strengthen its ability to protect, recover, and secure business data as companies worldwide increasingly adopt artificial intelligence technologies. The integration of Securiti’s AI governance and data security tools will expand Veeam’s portfolio beyond traditional data backup into AI-trust and compliance management.
Under the terms of the agreement, Securiti CEO Rehan Jalil will join Veeam as President of Security and AI following the close of the transaction. The deal, structured as a mix of cash and stock, is expected to be finalized later this year pending regulatory approvals.
Jalil, who has a strong track record in cloud and cybersecurity innovation, founded Securiti to enable safe and responsible use of data in the AI era. The acquisition underscores his standing among the growing list of Pakistani-origin founders making waves in Silicon Valley.

Together, Veeam and Securiti will help customers protect and govern data wherever it resides from the cloud to AI systems while ensuring resilience and trust, a Veeam spokesperson said in a statement.
